04-11-2022

November 8 is celebrated as the Victory Day. After the next act of aggression by the armed forces of Armenia on September 27, 2020, the Republic of Azerbaijan used the right of self-defense provided by the UN Charter to force the aggressor to peace, started a counter-offensive operation with the aim of ending the occupation of Azerbaijani lands.

Under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the victorious Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan achieved amazing victories in the 44-day long Patriotic War and wrote new glorious pages in the history of the world military. The invaders were dealt heavy blows, a large number of their manpower and military equipment were destroyed. Most of the occupied territory of our country has been liberated, including Fizuli, Jabrayil, Zangilan, Gubadli regions, the settlements of Hadrut and Sugovushan, about 300 settlements. One of the most glorious pages of the Patriotic War was on November 8, the day when Shusha, the pearl and crown of Karabakh, the cradle of Azerbaijani culture, was rescued from bondage.

Realizing that they will not be able to take a stance in front of the Azerbaijan Armed Forces, and that it is doomed, Armenia has admitted its defeat. The military victory achieved by the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan was completed by the political victory.

The victory of November 8 was a celebration of the invincible will and great leadership skills of the victorious Commander-in-Chief, fighting determination, bravery, high military-technical, moral-psychological training and professionalism of the Azerbaijan Armed Forces.

On the occasion of the Victory Day, a virtual exhibition called "November 8 - Victory Day" was prepared by the employees of the National Library of Azerbaijan named after M.F. Akhundzade. Official documents, photos, books on the subject and articles published in periodicals are displayed in the virtual exhibition.
