On July 19, a ceremony was held at the National Library to present the personal archive of distinguished librarian scientist, Honored Scientist, Professor Abuzar Khalafov to the National Library of Azerbaijan by the family of the deceased.

Director of the National Library, Professor Karim Tahirov, opened the event with an opening speech and greeted everyone. The director emphasized that today, on the eve of the 100th anniversary of the National Library, we have gathered for the presentation ceremony of the personal archive of Professor Abuzar Khalafov, the elder of Azerbaijani librarians, the founder of the science of library science in our country, the founder of the Faculty of Library and Information Science at BSU, the outstanding librarian scientist, professor Abuzar Khalafov, we all benefited from the works and books written by Abuzar teacher, all of us prof. We are the representatives of the school of librarianship created by Abuzar Khalafov, I believe that the dear memory of Abuzar teacher will be remembered, his archive preserved in the fund of the National Library will be a research object for all librarians, will become their desk books.

The dean of the Faculty of Information and Document Management of BSU, associate professor Alamdar Jabbarli said that the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the National Library of Azerbaijan is an example of the attention paid not only to the National Library, but to library work as a whole. A. Jabbarli noted that we will always keep the bright memory of Abuzar Khalafov alive. There are many facts that connect Abuzar Khalafov with the National Library. His memory is dear to all of us. A. Khalafov's legacy is being researched in an admirable way and will always be researched. This bright image will always shine a light on library work.

Head of library science department, associate professor Elchin Ahmadov spoke about the scientific and pedagogical activity of Abuzar Khalafov. He noted that it is a great responsibility for him to lead the department headed by Abuzar Khalafov, A. Khalafov is the founder of a great scientific school, and gifting his archive to the National Library can be considered a gift for the anniversary of the National Library.

The son of a scientist, vice-rector of the Academy of Justice of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan,  assistant professor  speaking on behalf of Abuzar Khalafov's family, Elchin Khalafov expressed his gratitude to the National Library for the high value given to his father's scientific heritage, educational and pedagogical activities and noted that the presented archival materials - manuscripts and books - are from his personal library and will be of great service in enriching the National Library's fund. Associate Professor E. Khalafov at the end of his speech, prof. He presented the original of A. Khalafov's invitation to the 1st Congress of Azerbaijan Librarians in 1962 to the director of the National Library.

At the end, the event participants got acquainted with the personal archive of Professor Abuzar Khalafov.
