The National Library presented a virtual and traditional exhibition called "March 8 - International Women's Day"

07-03-2024

March 8 International Women's Day, which is the day of international solidarity of women in the struggle for economic, social and political equality, is solemnly celebrated every year in different countries of the world, as well as in our republic. The decision to celebrate this day was made at a meeting held in Copenhagen in 1910 at the suggestion of German politician, human rights defender, journalist Clara Setkin. In 1977, the UN officially recognized this day as Women's Day.

Throughout history, great respect and honor have always been shown to women and mothers in Azerbaijan. The names of our wise rulers, brave generals, talented poets and artistic women are written in golden letters on the pages of our centuries-old history. Even in the last century, the Azerbaijani woman, who achieved unprecedented success in the way of gaining and protecting women's rights, has become an active participant in the social, political, economic, and cultural life of our country. Achievements in science, education, culture, healthcare and other fields have confirmed that Azerbaijani women have great potential.

On the occasion of March 8 - International Women's Day, the staff of the National Library prepared a virtual exhibition called "March 8 - International Women's Day", as well as a traditional book exhibition of the same name.

In the virtual exhibition, famous women who left a mark in the history and social and political life of modern Azerbaijan and played an important role, literature on their life and creativity, books written about mothers, women, articles and photos published in periodical press pages are displayed.
