Nakhchivan, the ancient land of Azerbaijan, is one of the oldest cultural centers in the world. The rich historical, scientific and cultural heritage of the Azerbaijani people was formed in this land.

The Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, established in 1924, is an integral part of Azerbaijan. According to the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan (November 12, 1995) authored by national leader Heydar Aliyev, the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic is an autonomous state within the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Nakhchivan is rich in examples of Turkish-Islamic culture and historical monuments of antiquity and the Middle Ages - ancient settlements, cities, magnificent castles, tombs that are the most perfect examples of memorial architecture, and unique natural monuments.

On December 30, 2023, President Ilham Aliyev signed the Order on the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The order states that on February 9, 2024, the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic will be completed.
