On the 14th of June, an event dedicated to "June 15 - National Liberation Day" was held at the National Library under the joint organization of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the National Library. The event began with the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The director of the National Library, Professor Karim Tahirov, made a speech and said that tomorrow is a very historically significant day for Azerbaijan - the National Liberation Day. The director noted that some historical days lay the foundation for great beginnings that determine the future of the nation.The date of June 15, 1993, which entered our history as the National Liberation Day, is the most important of such historical days. Thus, the coming to power of the national leader Heydar Aliyev saved Azerbaijan from a great trouble - the threat of disintegration. June 15 is the real Liberation Day for those who love their homeland and people, who experienced the pain and horrors of difficult days, and those who saw the events, the history of the life-and-death struggle of Azerbaijan statehood.

The director noted that one of the most substantial  services of our Great Leader Heydar Aliyev to Azerbaijan was his recommendation of a student whom he believed in as much as himself, a person who passed his school of life, our respected President Ilham Aliyev, to lead his people after him. The history we witnessed proved once again that the Great Leader was not wrong in his choice, and Mr. President led Azerbaijan to great successes, and the 44-day Patriotic War can be considered the peak of this success. At the end of his speech, K. Tahirov emphasized that as long as the independent state of Azerbaijan stands, the dear memory of Heydar Aliyev will live forever in the memory of our people and will never be forgotten.

Akif Marifli, head of the book industry department of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, PhD in history, made a speech and first of all congratulated everyone on the occasion of the National Liberation Day. He said that Heydar Aliyev had incomparable services for the state of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijani people. We cannot end by listing the services rendered by our great leader for the Azerbaijani people and our country. One of the greatest services of our national leader was his gift of President Ilham Aliyev to the people of Azerbaijan. Today, Azerbaijan is recognized in the world as an independent state under the leadership of Mr. President. At the end of his speech, A. Marifli noted that the people of Azerbaijan are very lucky because they have a national leader as Heydar Aliyev and President as Mr.  Ilham Aliyev.

During the event, a virtual exhibition called "June 15 - National Liberation Day" (http://anl.az/el/vsb/Milli_Qurtulus_Gunu/index.html) was presented to the participants.

At the end, the participants got acquainted with the traditional book exhibition called "June 15 - National Liberation Day". In the exhibition, books, articles and materials preserved in the fund of the National Library, reflecting the history of Azerbaijan, as well as the life and activities of the National Leader were displayed.
