As part of the Days of Azerbaijani Culture held in Tashkent, the opening of the Azerbaijani Corner took place on June 11 at the Alisher Navoi National Library of Uzbekistan.
The event was opened with a welcoming speech by Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Farid Jafarov. The Deputy Minister emphasized the ancient national traditions shared by the Azerbaijani and Uzbek peoples. Highlighting the cooperation between the National Libraries of both countries, he underlined the great significance of establishing the Azerbaijani Corner at the National Library of Uzbekistan.
Director of the National Library of Uzbekistan, Umida Teshabaeva, described the opening of the Azerbaijani Corner as a remarkable event for both the library staff and readers.
She noted that the library preserves numerous publications about Azerbaijan and stressed that the books, journals, and other printed materials showcased in the permanent corner will contribute to promoting the history, culture, and literature of the brotherly country.
Ms. Teshabaeva also added that the National Library of Uzbekistan currently holds more than 5,000 publications on Azerbaijan, and this number continues to grow each year.
Professor Karim Tahirov, Director of the Mirza Fatali Akhundov National Library of Azerbaijan, underlined that relations with the National Library of Uzbekistan have been steadily expanding over the years.
It was recalled that the Uzbekistan Corner was inaugurated at the National Library of Azerbaijan in 2019. Since then, the library has hosted numerous events, including jubilees dedicated to prominent Uzbek poets, writers, and thinkers, as well as book presentations.
It was noted that the newly established Azerbaijani Corner features nearly 300 publications. Uzbek readers will now have the opportunity to access books published by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation covering Azerbaijan’s history, culture, literature, modern development, as well as detailed information on the glorious Victory in the 44-day Patriotic War.
Following the speeches, participants familiarized themselves with the publications displayed at the Azerbaijani Corner.
