The National Library attended an international conference named “Libraries as Witnesses of the Victory: How to Make New Generation Think of the Victory as their Own”

The video conference “Libraries as Witnesses of the Victory: How to Make New Generation Think of the Victory as their Own” took place on May 15, 2020. Azerbaijan National Library took part in the conference. The online meeting was attended by S.Gorokhova, Director of the All-Russian State Library of Foreign Literature named after I. Rudomino; prof.KarimTahirov, Director of the Azerbaijan National Library; prof.Roman Motulsky, Director General of the National Library of Belarus; Directors of the National Library of Kazakhstan and the National Academic Library of Kazakhstan; bibliographer of the Russian Presidential Library; Head of the Archival Documents Department of the National Library of Russia; directors of the national libraries of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and others.

Director of the Azerbaijan National Library prof.KarimTahirov made a speech at the video conference. He demonstrated to the participants of the conference the electronic database “The Great Victory – 75” and the virtual exhibition “The History of our Glorious Victory” prepared by the staff of the National Library and dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the historic victory in the Great Patriotic War.

K.Tahirov gave detailed information about a 2-volume fundamental bibliography “Azerbaijan during the Great Patriotic War” and a book titled “Azerbaijan National Library during the Great Patriotic War” (in Azerbaijani and Russian) prepared by the staff of the National Library and dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the historic victory in the Great Patriotic War. He also mentioned that due to the risk of the coronavirus, the joint projects of the Azerbaijan National Library, the Russian State ArtLibrary and the National Library of Belarus, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the historic Victory in the Great Patriotic War,have been postponed to autumn.
