On October 1, the National Library held the opening of an exhibition dedicated to the “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty” within the framework of the 11th Baku International Book Fair, as well as the presentation of a related virtual exhibition and an electronic information database.

The Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs and Library-Information Services of the National Library of Azerbaijan, PhD in History Adiba Ismayilova, noted that the exhibition features materials in Azerbaijani and foreign languages from the National Library’s Gold Fund and publications highlighting the wise policy of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the formation of the modern independent Azerbaijani state, the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the historic victory in the 44-day Patriotic War under the leadership of Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the full restoration of territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as materials on Shusha and jubilee anniversaries of prominent cultural figures.

In his speech, the Head of the Book Industry Department of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, writer-publicist Vasif Qurbanzade praised the National Library, calling it a “temple preserving books,” and emphasized the importance of such events for the development of book culture.

The virtual exhibition includes official documents, photographs, articles from the press, and materials on the wise policy of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the Constitution of Azerbaijan, and the restoration of sovereignty and territorial integrity.
