On this day, Zangilan City Day is being observed in Azerbaijan. According to the decree signed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on July 31, 2023, October 20 is annually celebrated as “Zangilan City Day.”

On this occasion, a virtual exhibition titled “October 20 – Zangilan City Day” and a traditional book exhibition with the same name have been presented to users at the National Library.

The virtual exhibition features official documents, photographs, and materials in Azerbaijani and foreign languages from the National Library’s collection about Zangilan city, ongoing restoration and reconstruction work, the Great Return to Zangilan, as well as the Patriotic War and the Great Victory. The traditional exhibition presents books in Azerbaijani and other languages on the history of Zangilan city, its toponyms, ancient cultural and historical monuments of significance, as well as materials about the Patriotic War, the historic victory, the heroes who shaped history, and the combat paths of soldiers and officers who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
