The virtual exhibition "December 10 - International Human Rights Day" was presented to users online in the National Library

09-12-2022

December 10 is celebrated as International Human Rights Day. On December 10, 1948, the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) adopted this day as the International Human Rights Day based on the thesis that "all people are free and equal".

Human rights describe the natural and subjective rights of people. The basic concept of human rights is that all people should have the same rights and that these rights should apply equally to everyone without any explanation.

Re-establishing its state independence, Azerbaijan chose the path of democratic, legal and secular state-building, joined the UN General Declaration on Human Rights and other international conventions. The Constitution, which was adopted by popular vote on November 12, 1995, laid the foundation for a new state-building based on human rights and freedoms in our country, gave impetus to the start of a qualitatively new stage of legal reforms, adopted important normative-legal acts and state programs, in the field of ensuring human rights The essence and concept of the implemented measures are clearly defined.

On the occasion of the International Human Rights Day, a virtual exhibition of the same name was prepared by the employees of the National Library of Azerbaijan. Books and articles published in periodicals related to the topic are displayed in the virtual exhibition.
