The National Library of Azerbaijan participated in the round table "Libraries as institutions of public memory" held in a hybrid format

On June 23, a round table was held in a hybrid format on the topic "Libraries as institutions of public memory" with the participation of international experts by the All-Russian State Library for Foreign Literature named after M.I. Rudomino, the humanitarian programs department of the Russian representative office of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, library leaders and staff, specialists in the history of the Second World War and specialists in youth work.

General Director of the Foreign Literature Library Pavel Leonidovich Kuzmin welcomed the participants and wished everyone success. Then the video speech of the Director of the National Library of Azerbaijan, Professor Karim Tahirov was presented. In his speech, the director greeted the participants of the round table and wished them success. He noted that in 2020, the National Library prepared and published a fundamental bibliography in the Azerbaijani and Russian languages called "Azerbaijan in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945". The director noted that the bibliography "Azerbaijan in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945" compiled by the National Library of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War has been decided to be published in two books. Books include literature in Azerbaijani and Russian languages, taking into account the language factor. Rich material on the subject is collected in the 1st book, which includes materials in the Azerbaijani language. In the bibliographic index, the materials published during the war and in the following years are grouped by separate topics, and the chronicle of the republic's activity and great service in winning the victory during the war years is compiled. The second part of the bibliographic index is published in Russian.

In addition, the book "Azerbaijan National Library during the Great Patriotic War: 1941-1945" was published, which was authored by Professor K. Tahirov and talks about the role of the sons of the Fatherland in winning the historical victory over fascism, he brought to the attention of the participants that the staff of the National Library prepared a virtual exhibition dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War and an electronic database called "The Great Victory".

Tamilla Ahmadova, head of the humanitarian programs department of the Russian representative office of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, spoke at the round table about the activities of the Azerbaijani people at the front and rear fronts during the Great Patriotic War.

The moderator of the online meeting was Svetlana Anatolyevna Gorokhova, adviser to the general director of the Foreign Literature Library, scientific secretary of the Central State Mass Library named after V. V. Mayakovsky, and member and chairman of the International Cooperation Department, Board of Directors.

Then Parvane Gurbanova, head of the "Information" department of the "Bibliographic and electronic information service department" of the National Library of Azerbaijan, presented to the participants the resources prepared by the employees of the National Library of Azerbaijan from the fund of the National Library for the international open resource called "Libraries - Witnesses of Victory". She gave extensive information to the participants about Azerbaijan's participation in the Great Patriotic War, as well as the activities of the National Library of Azerbaijan during those times. She spoke about 7 Azerbaijani Heroes of the Soviet Union, who were participants and heroes of the Great Patriotic War, the warpath they passed and the successes they achieved.

At the event, the employees of the library named after A.S. Pushkin made a presentation about the bravery of the heroic sons of Azerbaijan in the Great Patriotic War.

In the end, opinions were exchanged on the results of the round table, the opinions of the participants, and the identification of future areas of cooperation, and a commemorative photo was taken.
