On March 27, 2026, the National Library presented to users a traditional exhibition titled “March 27 — Science Day” and a virtual exhibition titled “Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.” These exhibitions aim to promote the rich history and achievements of Azerbaijani science, attract young people to scientific activity, foster innovative thinking, and develop their creative potential.

The exhibitions feature official documents, materials on the development of science in Azerbaijan, the establishment and history of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, stages of scientific progress, founders of the institution, Azerbaijani scientists, scientific research, publications of various institutes, academic works, scientific journals, and literature in Azerbaijani and foreign languages. Bibliographies published by the National Library about prominent scholars are also on display.

Every year on March 27, Science Day is celebrated in Azerbaijan. This date is a professional holiday for everyone engaged in science and for the entire scientific community of the country.

On April 9, 2018, President Ilham Aliyev signed an order establishing “Science Day” in Azerbaijan, taking into account the importance of science in the development of society. The choice of March 27 is symbolic, as it coincides with the founding day of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.

Currently, the development of science in Azerbaijan is one of the main priorities of state policy. Important steps are being taken to strengthen scientific activity, implement innovations, and advance modern technologies. Various state programs are being carried out, the material and technical base of research institutions is being reinforced, and new opportunities are being created for scientists and researchers.
