A virtual and traditional book exhibition titled “20 November – Aghdam City Day” has been presented to users at the National Library

19-11-2025

On November 20, 2020, under the leadership of the Victorious Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the brave Azerbaijani Army demonstrated its military-political strength and liberated the Aghdam district from occupation. According to the decree of the country’s leader dated July 31, 2023, November 20 is celebrated annually as “Aghdam City Day”.

At the end of the 20th century, Aghdam — which suffered the heaviest consequences of Armenian occupation and was called the “Hiroshima of the Caucasus” — is no longer a symbol of ruin, but a symbol of revival, state strength, and national will.

For 27 years, our paradise land, which had been destroyed and turned into ruins, again feels the breath of the Azerbaijani state. Within the framework of the “Great Return” program implemented by our government, magnificent projects are being realized in Aghdam, and the residents of Aghdam are returning to their native homeland. The Aghdam Industrial Park, the Imarat Historical-Architectural Museum Complex, the Victory Museum, the Mugham Center, cultural centers, Aghdam City Hotel, Hilton Garden Inn Hotel, spacious boulevards and parks, and more are being constructed.

For this historical day, the National Library has presented to users a virtual and traditional book exhibition titled as “20 November – Aghdam City Day”.

The virtual exhibition presents official documents, photographs, materials depicting the extensive construction and reconstruction works in Aghdam, the high-level implementation of the Great Return, as well as books, articles, and other resources reflecting the Patriotic War and the Great Victory, available in Azerbaijani and foreign languages.

You can explore the virtual exhibition by using the link : https://anl.az/el/vsb/Agdam_sheher_Gunu/index.htm.

The traditional exhibition presents books in Azerbaijani and various other languages about the history and toponyms of the city of Aghdam, the historically significant cultural monuments that were destroyed and ruined during the occupation, the Patriotic War and the glorious Victory, the restoration of the Aghdam district, the President’s visits to the region, as well as the heroes who made history.
