An exhibition titled “Honored Art Worker Imruz Afandiyeva – 90” has been presented to users at the National Library of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of Professor Imruz Afandiyeva, Doctor of Art Studies, musicologist, and Honored Art Worker of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The exhibition features her scientific works, research dedicated to the creativity of Azerbaijani composers, collections of academic and journalistic articles, as well as publications in Azerbaijani and foreign languages where she served as compiler, reviewer, and scientific editor. Periodical press materials are also included.

Imruz Mammed Sadiq gizi Afandiyeva was born on 16 December 1935 in Baku.

Since the beginning of her career in 1960, she has made significant contributions to music science and musical art as a musicologist and educator. She conducted research across various musical genres and authored more than 300 newspaper and journal articles, popular essays, research works, textbooks, books, and monographs.

Her notable works include studies on Azerbaijani composers such as “Composer Telman Hajiyev” (1985), “Children’s Music in the Works of Sevda Ibrahimova” (2002), as well as creative portraits of Tofig Guliyev, Emin Sabitoglu, Tofig Bakikhanov, and Oktay Rajabov. Particularly noteworthy is her doctoral dissertation, successfully defended in 2005, titled “The Creativity of Vasif Adigozalov in the Context of National Traditions.”

Under her supervision, several scholars have been trained.

For her active scientific and public contributions, Imruz Afandiyeva has received high recognition. She was awarded Certificates of Honor by the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan in 1986, 2005, 2012, and 2016. In 2008, she was awarded the honorary title of Honored Art Worker. Since 2019, she has been a personal pensioner of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
