A book exhibition named "Zulfugar Hajibeyli -140" was opened in the National Library

Zulfugar Hajibeyli, Honored Artist of Azerbaijan, outstanding composer, was born on April 17, 1884 in the city of Shusha. Childhood years were spent in this wonderful musical cradle. Zulfugar Hajibeyli, who was forever attached to music from a young age, got his first knowledge from folk music.

His creativity is colorful. His contributions to our national musical treasure are many.

Zulfugar Hajibeyli, who started his career with the song genre, gained wide fame. " Kənd qızı - Village Girl", " Çoban qız - Shepherd Girl" and " Əsgər nəğməsi - Soldier's Song" which became popular in the first quarter of the 20th century are among the composer's first songs.

Zulfugar Hajibeyli is the author of the first Azerbaijani operetta - "50 yaşında cavan - 50 years young" (1910). The operetta, which has its own text and music, is considered the first example of the comedy genre on the Azerbaijani stage.

The composer's opera "Aşıq Qərib", combining folk music and European music, caused great interest in social and cultural life at that time.

Zulfugar Hajibeyli, as one of the prominent artists who founded the Musical Theater, was also active in the social and cultural life of the republic. However, there are many works that he could not write and finish. He has unfinished works written in various genres in the archive.

A large book exhibition named "Zulfugar Hajibeyli -140" was prepared in connection with the birthday of the famous composer in the National Library.

In the exhibition, the works of the composer preserved in the collection of the National Library, books about his life, the role of Zulfugar Hajibeyli in the formation of Azerbaijani classical music, the organization and development of opera, and musical theater are displayed in Azerbaijani and Russian languages.
