On June 1, an event dedicated to International Children’s Day was held at the Open Library operating under the National Library of Azerbaijan, with the participation of first- and fifth-grade students from Secondary School No. 8 named after K. Karimov. During the event, participants were informed about the history and significance of this special day, as well as the measures implemented in Azerbaijan to protect children’s rights and ensure their well-being.
The speakers highlighted that the foundation of Azerbaijan’s state policy on children was laid by National Leader Heydar Aliyev. It was noted that during his leadership, numerous laws, state programs, and action plans aimed at addressing children’s issues were adopted, while the development of a national framework ensuring children’s physical, intellectual, moral, ethical, and social development was significantly advanced.
The event also emphasized President Ilham Aliyev’s care and affection for children. Participants were informed about the successful implementation of multifaceted initiatives aimed at protecting children’s rights in Azerbaijan and the important role played by Heydar Aliyev Foundation in this process. Special attention was drawn to the care and support provided by the First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mehriban Aliyeva, for children with special needs, children deprived of parental care, and the children of martyrs and war veterans.
During the artistic part of the program, the schoolchildren recited poems. On the occasion of International Children’s Day, the National Library presented books to the students as gifts.
At the end of the event, the National Library introduced a virtual exhibition entitled “International Children’s Day – June 1,” featuring photographs, materials published in periodicals, and books related to the occasion:
