On May 21, a presentation ceremony of the electronic database titled “Year of Urban Planning and Architecture” (in Azerbaijani and English), prepared by the staff of the National Library, was held.

Opening the event, Director of the National Library, Professor Karim Tahirov, emphasized the important role of urban planning and architecture in the country’s socio-economic development. He noted that the large-scale construction and landscaping projects implemented in Azerbaijan in recent years have made a significant contribution to shaping the modern appearance of cities and developing infrastructure.

The professor stated that the restoration of historical and religious monuments and the establishment of new residential areas in the liberated territories not only preserve Azerbaijan’s architectural traditions but also serve the sustainable development of the region. He stressed that the reconstruction work carried out in Karabakh is important not only as infrastructure projects, but also in terms of reviving and passing on the national and cultural heritage to future generations.

Following this, the electronic database titled “Year of Urban Planning and Architecture” (in Azerbaijani and English) was presented.

During the presentation, it was noted that the newly created electronic database aims to systematically provide users with rich information resources related to urban planning and architecture.

The database includes official documents, materials on Heydar Aliyev and urban planning, urban development activities in the liberated territories, examples of Azerbaijan’s ancient and modern architecture, scientific articles, books, photo and video materials. The electronic database has been prepared in both Azerbaijani and English, allowing both local readers and foreign researchers to gain broader information about Azerbaijan’s architectural heritage and urban planning policy.
