On October 3, within the framework of the 11th Baku International Book Fair, a presentation of the exhibition featuring the manuscripts of Azerbaijani classical writers, brought to the country as part of the project “Return of National and Spiritual Values to the Homeland,” was held at the Baku Expo Center. The project is jointly implemented by the Azerbaijan National Library, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The event was attended by Adil Karimli, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ali Ahmadov, First Deputy Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Thani, Minister of Culture of the State of Qatar.
In his remarks, Professor Karim Tahirov, Director of the Azerbaijan National Library, emphasized that the national and spiritual values of the Azerbaijani people are carefully preserved in libraries and museums around the world. He noted that the exhibition presents copies of rare and valuable manuscripts by prominent figures of Azerbaijani literature — including Nizami Ganjavi, Imadaddin Nasimi, Muhammad Fuzuli, and other distinguished scholars and poets — identified and brought to the National Library under the framework of this project.
It was also highlighted that the staff of the National Library have created an electronic database titled “Azerbaijani Manuscripts in World Libraries” which compiles digital copies of the manuscripts of Azerbaijani classics repatriated to the homeland within the “Return of National and Spiritual Values to the Homeland” initiative.
