The Azerbaijan National Library signed a bilateral Memorandum of Cooperation with Turkey’s National Library and a trilateral Memorandum with Morocco’s National Library and ANAS Manuscripts Institute

On October 2, within the framework of the XI Baku International Book Fair, a ceremony was held for the signing of bilateral and trilateral Cooperation Memorandum between the National Library of Azerbaijan and the Library and Publications at the Presidency of the Republic of Turkiye, as well as between the National Library of Azerbaijan, the Institute of Manuscripts named after Muhammad Fuzuli of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), and the National Library of Morocco.

The event was attended by ANAS President Academician Isa Habibbeyli, Director of the Institute of Manuscripts named after Muhammad Fuzuli Academician Teymur Kerimli, Director of the Central Scientific Library of ANAS Doctor of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Huseyn Huseynov, Cultural and Promotion Attache of the Embassy of Turkiye in Azerbaijan Muhittin Macit, Director of the Library and Publications at the Presidency of the Republic of Turkiye Ayhan Tuglu, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Azerbaijan Muhammad Adil Embarsh, Director of the National Library of Morocco Samira El Malizi, and other relevant people.

The ceremony was opened by the Director of the National Library of Azerbaijan, Professor Karim Tahirov, who greeted the guests. He noted that to date, the National Library of Azerbaijan has signed cooperation memoranda with national libraries of 54 countries worldwide. He said that the memoranda signed today serve to establish active mutual cooperation relations both bilaterally with the Library and Publications at the Presidency of the Republic of Turkiye, and trilaterally with the National Library of Morocco and the Institute of Manuscripts named after Muhammad Fuzuli of ANAS. He stated that these cooperation memoranda open broad opportunities in book and information exchange, the creation of literature corners, use of electronic publications and databases, exchange of experience among specialists, organization of mutual book exhibitions and conferences, as well as providing online services to readers.

Ayhan Tuglu, Director of Library and Publications at the Presidency of the Republic of Turkiye, spoke about the signed cooperation memorandum, emphasizing that it would make a significant contribution to the development of relations between the libraries of both countries in various fields.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli, President of ANAS, emphasized that holding signing ceremonies within the framework of the International Book Fair contributes significantly to the expansion of international relations in the fields of culture, science, and education with various countries around the world. He noted that the cooperation between the National Library of Azerbaijan, the Institute of Manuscripts named after Muhammad Fuzuli, and Morocco—a civilization center with rich library traditions—marks the beginning of a new stage. He added that the mutual exchange of manuscripts and opening them for researchers will create broad scientific opportunities for scholars in both countries and will further strengthen mutual cooperation.

Samira El Malizi, Director of the National Library of Morocco, greeted everyone and expressed her gratitude to the Director of the National Library of Azerbaijan, Professor Karim Tahirov, ANAS President Academician Isa Habibbeyli, and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Azerbaijan Muhammad Adil Embarsh for their support in signing the cooperation memorandum. She noted that libraries play the role of a bridge between peoples and that this trilateral cooperation memorandum will open new opportunities for joint projects, exhibitions, and scientific research in the future.

Afterward, the cooperation memoranda were signed. First, the bilateral cooperation memorandum between the National Library of Azerbaijan and the Library and Publications at the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye was signed. Then, the trilateral cooperation memorandum between the National Library of Azerbaijan, the Institute of Manuscripts named after Muhammad Fuzuli of ANAS, and the National Library of Morocco was signed.
