An event dedicated to the centenary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and presentation ceremony of the book “Gara Garayev. A short essay on life and work” was held within the framework of Frankfurt International Book Fair

On October 10, an event dedicated to the centenary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and presentation ceremony of the book “Gara Garayev. A short essay on life and work”, which was published by the National Library from the series “Remarkable people of Azerbaijan”, was held within the framework of Frankfurt International Book Fair in Frankfurt, Germany. The book which is published in three languages covers detailed information about the life and work of the great composer as well as his world-renowned works.

First Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan VahfAliyev welcomed the guests. Later, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Federal Republic of Germany Mr. Ramin Hasanov and Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey Prof. Dr. Haluk Drusun made a speech. After his speech, prof. Haluk Dursun presented a book about Mavlana to Vagif Aliyev. Director of Azerbaijan National Library prof. Karim Tahirov presented “Gara Garayev. A short essay on life and work” book published by the National Library and 5 CDs including all compositions of the great composer, which was also prepared by the National Library, to the participants of the event. The event was also attended by Samira Patzer Ismayilova, Chairwoman of Diaspora organization in Germany. She presented a collection of Gara Garayev’s works to the participants.

The event continued with a roundtable discussion dedicated to the centenary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. Publishers, writers, literary critics and scholars who live in Germany and widely promote German-Azerbaijan literature also participated in the event. They presented anthology of Azerbaijan reading-book (in German) prepared by themselves to the participants of the event.
