October 22 marks the centenary of the birth of Professor Kamil Aliyev, People's Artist and a prominent representative of the Azerbaijani carpet painting art.

Kamil Aliyev devoted his entire life to the survival and development of the traditions of carpet weaving, which have an exceptional place in the history of our people's culture. The talented artist had successfully used the elements of national patterns, created colorful decorative motifs, and had always enriched the Azerbaijani carpet weaving and applied art with new ornaments.

In accordance with the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On Celebrating the Centenary of Kamil Aliyev” and “Action Plan” of the Ministry of Culture, the staff of the Azerbaijan National Library has prepared a virtual exhibition named “Kamil Aliyev – 100”.

The virtual exhibition features remarkable people’s views about Kamil Aliyev, official documents about him, photos, awards, as well as books and articles about life and work of the People’s Artist.
