On July 31, 2023, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, signed a decree titled “On the Establishment of City Days for the Liberated Territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan.” According to the decree, August 26 has been declared “Lachin City Day.”
August 26 — Lachin City Day is not only a commemoration of the city’s liberation but also a symbol of Azerbaijan’s statehood, national unity, and historical justice. The observance of this day reflects the national will of the Azerbaijani people, the strength of the state, and the restoration of historical justice.
On this significant occasion, the National Library has presented to users a virtual exhibition titled “August 26 – Lachin City Day” (http://anl.az/el/vsb/26_avqust_Lachin/index.htm) as well as a traditional book exhibition under the same name.
The exhibitions feature official documents, photographs, books, articles, and other materials preserved in the National Library’s collection that highlight the city of Lachin, the Patriotic War, and the Great Victory. These materials are presented in Azerbaijani, Russian, and English languages.
