The National Library of Azerbaijan was represented at the 28th meeting of the Conference of Directors of National Libraries of Asia and Oceania (CDNLAO)

The 28th meeting of the Conference of Directors of National Libraries of Asia and Oceania (CDNLAO) was held at the National Library of Qatar under the theme "Collect and Engage: National Libraries and their Collections". First, the conference was opened by the Executive Director of the Qatar National Library, Tan Huism, and then IFLA President Vicki McDonald's speech was heard by the conference participants. Also, the presentation of Michel Lau, Regional Manager of IFLA's Regional Office for Asia and Oceania was brought to the attention of the participants.

The conference discussed the topics of  Collecting Content Representative of our Communities (Physical and Digital), "Preserving and Making the Collections Accessible ", " Activating or Engaging Communities with the Nation’s Collection".

Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs and Library-Information Service of the National Library of Azerbaijan, Ph.D. Adiba Ismayilova participated in the conference at the invitation of Qatar National Library. The deputy director of the National Library made a presentation on "National libraries are the protectors of national and moral values". In his presentation, he talked about the role of libraries in protecting national and moral values, the history of the National Library of Azerbaijan, its rich collections, the first examples of Azerbaijani book culture - lithographic and first printed books, which constitute an unparalleled part of our press history and cover the years 1875-1930 periodical press publications, the precious pearls of our national music, the unique "Voice recording Fund", as well as the "Golden Fund" of the manuscripts of Azerbaijani composers, talked about the latest projects implemented to ensure their preservation and accessibility, and the "Return of our National and Spiritual Values ​​to the Homeland" project. The presentation was received with interest by the conference participants.

The deputy director donated to the fund of the National Library of Qatar the CD-album "Nizami-880" made by the National Library, the CD (instrumental works) of the great Azerbaijani composer Gara Garayev and "Hello, Azerbaijan!" gave the book as a gift.

The conference will continue its work on November 2.
