Today marks the 105th anniversary of the birth of outstanding composer of Azerbaijan, People's Artist, winner of the State Prize, Professor Soltan Hajibeyov.

Soltan Ismayil oglu Hajibeyov was born on May 8, 1919 in Shusha. Soltan Hajibeyov's creativity was formed on the basis of folk art and music of Uzeyir Hajibeyli, as well as world classical music experience.

The first works of the composer are the " Pioner kantatası  - (Cantata of Pioneer) " and the musical comedy " Qızıl gül – (Golden Rose)" written for choir and symphony orchestra.

Soltan Hajibeyov, who wrote musical works for children from the first years of his career, the opera " İsgəndər və Çoban  - (Iskander and the Shepherd)", the songs "Oynag Topum", "Laylay", "Banovsha", "Bahar Geldi", "Yolka", "Pioneer Marshi" are good for national children's music literature. was a contribution. " Sarı bülbül  - (The Yellow Nightingale)", "Leyla", "Karabagh Shikastesi" which he wrote for voice accompanied by an orchestra of folk instruments, were loved by the listeners. He wrote many musical works for the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic - "Vatan" suite, "Məzəli rəqs  - (Funny dance)", " Yumoristik səhnəcik  - (Humorous scene)".

One of the bright pages of Soltan Hajibeyov's creativity is the music he wrote for the drama theater. At different times, he performed on the stage of the Azerbaijan Academic Drama Theater ("Məhəbbət  - (Love)", " Kəndçi qızı  - (Peasant Girl)", M. Ibrahimov; " İnsan  - (Human)", S. Vurgun; " Eşq və İntiqam  - (Love and Revenge)", S.S. Akhundov; "Katyr Mammad", Z. Khalil, "Ashnalar", " Əliqulu evlənir-  (Aligulu is getting married), S. Rahman "Alov" M. Hussein, "Aydin" J. Jabbarly and others) composed music. The outstanding composer opened a unique path in Azerbaijani music, distinguished himself from other composers with his individual characteristics, and was recognized as an artist with high artistic taste.

In connection with the 105th anniversary of the birth of People's Artist Soltan Hajibeyov, a large book exhibition called "People's Artist Soltan Hajibeyov - 105" was prepared in the National Library.

Sheet music of the composer's works preserved in the National Library's fund, books in Azerbaijani and other languages ​​dedicated to his life and creativity are displayed at the exhibition.
