The land of Nakhchivan is the ancient and eternal land of Azerbaijan, one of the cradles of human civilization with ancient history, rich culture and centuries-old traditions of national statehood, and one of the famous trade, craft, science and culture centers of the East. Nakhchivan is the homeland of great personalities, thinkers, philosophers, master writers who have a special place in Azerbaijan's literary and philosophical thought and science. National Leader Heydar Aliyev, Huseyn Javid, Mammad Said Ordubadi, Jalil Mammadguluzade, Mammad Araz, Yusif Mammadaliyev, the architect and founder of the independent state of Azerbaijan, gave our people such personalities.

Ancient Nakhchivan, a gift of five thousand years of history, received the status of autonomy 100 years ago. Nakhchivan has been living as an autonomous republic for a century. On December 30, 2023, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed the Decree "On holding the 100th anniversary of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic".

In connection with the anniversary, the staff of the National Library of Azerbaijan presented a virtual exhibition called "A century-old path of the ancient land" to users online.

In the virtual exhibition, literatures exploring the history, culture, archeology, and monuments of the ancient land, official documents related to the anniversaries of the establishment of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, articles and photos published in periodicals are displayed.
