A presentation ceremony of valuable materials related to Azerbaijan, and electronic versions of Azerbaijani Literature Classics’ manuscripts protected in the National Library of Russia were hold in the National Library named after M.F.Akhundov

On September 17, a presentation ceremony of valuable materials related to Azerbaijan, and electronic versions of Azerbaijani Literature Classics’ manuscripts that protected in the National Library of Russia, the official signing ceremony of Memorandum on mutual cooperation between Azerbaijan National Library and the National Library of Bosnia & Herzegovina, and the opening ceremony of exhibition entitled “Azerbaijan pearls in the world libraries” were hold in the National Library named after M.F.Akhundov.

Opening the ceremony, the director of the National Library professor Karim Tahirov once again welcomed the guests who attended the IV Baku International Book Exhibition Fair and appreciated this wonderful tradition. Speaking about the exhibition entitled “Azerbaijan Pearls in the world libraries” he mentioned that beside the books related to Azerbaijan protected in the National Library of Russia, books from Austria, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Georgia were demonstrated in the exhibition as well.

Secretary of the Union of Writers Rashad Majid, professor of Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University Buludkhan Khalilov, deputy director of the ANAS Manuscript Institute Aybaniz khanim Aliyeva-Kangarli welcomed the guests and congratulated the entire library community on the occasion of this event.

Then the word was given to the director of the National Library of Russia Anton Vladimirovich Likhomonov. Presenting 6 discs consisting of the ancient Azerbaijani books in the Arabic alphabet protected in the National Library of Russia, he said that he returned the wealth that belongs to Azerbaijan.

A Memorandum on mutual cooperation was signed between the Azerbaijan National Library and the National Library of Bosnia & Herzegovina. In his speech, director of the National Library of Bosnia & Herzegovina Mr. Ismet Ovcina noted the importance of that Memorandum, wished success to all colleagues and expressed his gratitude to Karim Tahirov for hospitality.

Then the guests got acquainted with the National Library and their questions were answered.
