On February 18, 2026, a large book exhibition titled “People’s Poet Nariman Hasanazade – 95” and an electronic information database titled “Nariman Hasanazade” were presented to users at the National Library on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the birth of one of the prominent representatives of modern Azerbaijani literature, People’s Poet, playwright, and public figure Nariman Hasanazade.
The exhibition showcases the poet’s poems, epics, plays, scientific and literary-critical works, textbooks he authored, as well as translations and books for which he served as compiler, foreword writer, consultant, reviewer, and editor. It also presents literature in Azerbaijani and foreign languages about his life, dramaturgy, lyrics, the themes of historicity and modernity in his works, aesthetic issues, musical compositions based on his poems, and materials from periodicals.
The exhibition is planned to last for one week.

Nariman Hasanazade was born on February 18, 1931, in the Poylu settlement of the Gazakh (now Aghstafa) region. He studied at the Faculty of Philology of the Kirovabad State Pedagogical Institute (now Ganja State Pedagogical University) from 1949 to 1953. In 1961, he graduated from the Maxim Gorky Literature Institute in Moscow and also completed postgraduate literary courses. In 1965, he defended his кандидат dissertation on “Azerbaijani–Ukrainian Literary Relations,” earning the degree of Candidate of Philological Sciences.
He has been publishing since 1953 and has been a member of the Union of Writers of Azerbaijan since 1954.
His creative legacy includes 34 poetry collections, numerous poems, plays such as “Pompey’s Campaign to the Caucasus” and “Atabeys,” as well as the monograph “Our History, Our Destiny.” Over 100 of his poems have been set to music.
He has been awarded honorary titles including “Honored Art Worker” (1981) and “People’s Poet” (2005), as well as high state orders such as “Shohrat,” “Sharaf,” and “Istiglal,” and the jubilee medal “100th Anniversary of Heydar Aliyev (1923–2023).” He is currently Head of the Department of Humanities and Professor at the National Aviation Academy of Azerbaijan and a member of its Scientific Council.
