Azerbaijan is represented at the 58th International Library Week held in Istanbul

From March 28 to April 3, the 58th International Library Week on the theme "Libraries are full of life" is being held in Istanbul. Deputy director Adiba Ismayilova represents the National Library of Azerbaijan during the library week.

The opening ceremony of the 58th International Library Week was held on March 29. The event was held at the Library of the Ahmed Hamdi Tanpinar Literature Museum. The event opened with the National Anthem of the Republic of Turkey, and then Istanbul Provincial Culture and Tourism Director Coshgun Yılmaz gave an introductory speech and talked about the intention and purpose of "Library Week". During his speech, he informed the participants about Turkish libraries, especially public libraries, their activities, as well as publishing houses. He said that currently Turkey is one of the ten leading countries in the world in the field of book publishing.

British Library, Azerbaijan National Library, Cyprus International University Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences, National Library of Albania and other libraries participated in the panel. Speakers talked about the importance of libraries, their role in preserving book heritage, as well as projects implemented by libraries.

At the National Libraries panel, Adiba Ismayilova, Deputy Director of the National Library of Azerbaijan, spoke on the topic "National Libraries as the main center for meeting the information needs of society." During her speech, she said that the National Library of Azerbaijan is one of the leading libraries in the republic that provides high-level library and information services to the population. One of the characteristic features of the National Library of Azerbaijan is the ability to promptly respond to a large number of complex and multifaceted requests of readers-users, the organization of a highly developed inquiry-bibliography and information service, and the use of modern methods of service. At the same time, during her speech, the deputy director talked about the traditional and virtual projects implemented by the National Library of Azerbaijan in recent years.

In A. Ismayilova's speech, the activities of the National Library of Azerbaijan in the field of providing online services to readers, electronic delivery of documents, organizing the online use of dissertations and periodical press materials during the pandemic caused great interest, and it was recommended to study and spread this experience. At the end of her speech, the representative of Azerbaijan, presented the book "Old Shusha"  as well as a gift of Novruz attributes for the fund of the Ahmed Hamdi Tanpinar Literary Museum Library.

At the end, Adiba Ismayilova was awarded with a special certificate for her participation in the 58th International library week called "Libraries are full of life" and a commemorative photo was taken.
