On January 19, an event dedicated to January 20 - National Day of Mourning was held in the Open library-free reading section operating under the National Library.

Students of 4b, 5b, 6a, 6c classes of full secondary school No. 8 named after K. Karimov participated in the event. First, the dear memories of the people who were killed during the tragedy were commemorated with a minute of silence. At the opening of the event, the head of the department Lala Salahova informed the students about the January events that happened 34 years ago. Later, the schoolchildren got acquainted with the books about the January 20 incident, written as a heroic page in the history of our nation, and told poems and stories.

At the same time, the staff of the National Library prepared a virtual exhibition called "January 20 is the National Day of Sadness". Articles, photos, books in Azerbaijani and other languages ​​published in periodical press pages related to the topic are displayed in the virtual exhibition.
