Presentation ceremony of the book “The invention of Morel”, which was the joint project of Translation Center under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Argentina Embassy in the Azerbaijan Republic, was held in the National Library, on June 2.
Mr. Carlos Dante Riva – Argentina's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in the Republic of Azerbaijan greeted the participants of the event. In his speech, he said that the works of Adolfo Bioy Casares was published in Azerbaijan for the first time, and noted that translation of the book into Azerbaijani was carried out by the support of the Argentinean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship within the “SUR” program.
He expressed his satisfaction about the translation of the work into Azerbaijani which was written in 1940s, and thanked to the Azerbaijani Translation Center for the creation of this work.
Director of the Azerbaijan Translation Center Mrs. Afag Masud first gave brief information about the activities of the Center, and then spoke about the works done in promotion of the Azerbaijani literature in the world and promotion of the world literature in Azerbaijan. Afag Masud spoke about the Argentinean and Latin American literature and presented book, and she thanked to the ambassador for introducing the works by the writer Adolfo Bioy Casares to be translated.
Director of the Azerbaijan National Library professor Karim Tahirov highly estimated the work of the Translation Center and expressed his gratitude for the translation of this book on behalf of readers.
The speakers – the secretary of the Azerbaijan Writers Union, editor of the newspaper 525 Rashad Majid, Head of the Translation Center Office Yashar Aliyev spoke about the Latin America, Argentina literature, and expressed their gratitude for the introducing new name to Azerbaijani readers.
