Edgars Skuya, newly appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to our country, visited the National Library of Azerbaijan

On November 6, the newly appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to our country, Edgars Skuya, was a guest of the National Library.

 During the meeting, the director of the National Library, professor Karim Tahirov, greeted the guest and emphasized that he was pleased to see him in the library. The director informed the ambassador about the Azerbaijan National Library, as well as the Latvian permanent corner opened in the International Cooperation hall operating in the library. He spoke about the international book exchange.

 Ambassador Edgars Skuya noted that he visited the National Library of Azerbaijan for the first time and was happy to be here. He congratulated the entire library team, led by Professor Karim Tahirov, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the National Library of Azerbaijan and emphasized that he is proud of the close international cooperation between our countries, both in the political and cultural fields.

 Within the framework of the meeting, Mr. Ambassador visited “Heydar Aliyev” corner and got acquainted with the books displayed there.

 Director Karim Tahirov told Mr. Ambassador that the books displayed in the Latvian permanent corner operating in the Hall of International Cooperation are constantly updated and are always in the center of attention of readers.

 Later, the ambassador got acquainted with the books displayed in the Latvian permanent corner operating in the Hall of International Cooperation. He noted the importance of Azerbaijani readers being able to obtain information about the history and culture of Latvia through these books.

 In the end, Ambassador Edgars Skua presented the literature, history, culture, etc. of the Republic of Latvia to the National Library of Azerbaijan on behalf of the National Library of Latvia.

 Professor Karim Tahirov, on behalf of the National Library, presented the guest with the books “Baku Symphony”, “Azerbaijan National Library” and “Azerbaijani carpets in world collections”
