An event was held in the National Library in connection with the thirty-second anniversary of the Khojaly genocide

26-02-2024

On February 26, an event was held in the National Library in relation to the thirty-second anniversary of the Khojaly genocide. First, the spirits of the victims of the Khojaly tragedy and our martyrs were remembered with a minute of silence.

During the event, the director of the National Library, prof. Karim Tahirov noted that the Khojaly genocide entered the history of Azerbaijan as one of the most terrible and tragic pages. The tragedy of the 20th century, the Khojaly genocide, is the result of the criminal Armenian policy. This tragedy, which happened on the night of February 25-26, 1992, is one of the heaviest crimes directed not only against the people of Azerbaijan, but against the entire humanity.

During the Khojaly genocide, 613 people, including 106 women, 63 children, and 70 elderly people, were killed with unimaginable brutality just because they were Azerbaijanis, 487 civilians were maimed, and 1,275 people were captured.

The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev's implementation of measures aimed at promoting the genocide of Azerbaijanis in the world should be an example for each of our compatriots. Because from the legal point of view, the massacre that happened in Khojaly was not due to chance or carelessness, but was carried out deliberately and deliberately. That is why the people of Azerbaijan should always cherish the memory of the heroes who died for the territorial integrity of our land, hundreds of our compatriots who were killed in Khojaly, and remember them with respect.

In the end, there was a close acquaintance with the book exhibition dedicated to the Khojaly tragedy.
